A Russian drone hit a multi-story apartment building in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, causing a fire on the top floors, Ukrainian officials say. As a result of the incident, one person died and four were injured.

One person was killed and four injured when a Russian drone hit a multi-story residential building in the capital UkraineKiev – mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on social media.

On Friday evening, a drone hit a building in the Solomia district, one of the right-bank districts of Kiev, which is located in the west-central part of the city.

“As a result of an attack by an unmanned aerial vehicle of the Russian army on Kiev in the Solomansk region, a fire broke out in a multi-family residential building,” Klitschko wrote on social media. He specified that the fire spread to apartments on the top floors of the skyscraper.

The head of the Kiev military administration, Serhiy Popko, announced that over 100 residents were evacuated from the skyscraper and the injured were treated on site. “Apartments from the 17th to 21st floors were damaged,” he added.

Popko said that fragments of the drone also fell into the open area, but there were no reports of any injuries.
