After blowing up a dam in occupied Nowa Kakhovka, 1,700 people have been evacuated from the threatened areas so far, the authorities of the Kherson region announced. Some residents are still waiting for help. In the occupied town of Hola Prystań, people spent the night on the roofs of their houses.

In some places, the water in the town of Hola Prystań reached 3.5 meters. The pro-Ukrainian authorities of the occupied town are sounding the alarm – the water level is still rising, and the Russian occupiers are not in a hurry to help.

After blowing up the dam in occupied Nowa Kachówka 80 towns were in the endangered zone. Most of them are occupied by the Russians. So far, 1,700 people have been evacuated from the threatened areas, the authorities of the Kherson region reported. Most of them are residents of the Korabel district of Kherson.

The head of the government of the Kherson region, Oleksandr Prokudin, announced on Wednesday afternoon that 1,852 houses were under water after the dam was blown up.

The village of Ołeszki is practically completely under water. There are no escape routes in this place, the Suspilne TV portal reported. Several nearby villages are partially flooded.

In occupied Nowa Kachowka, the water level stopped rising. Several streets in the city are flooded. “Russian occupiers have now moved from the trenches along the river into the depths of Nova Kakhovka. Military equipment has been moved further from the Dnieper,” reported the Ukrainska Pravda portal.

The defense ministry in Kiev warned of Russian mines that could be washed away by water.

Secretary of the National Security Council i Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov announced on Radio Svoboda that the blowing up of the dam that destroyed the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant located on the dam was carried out on “Kremlin’s order – from the Cabinet Vladimir Putin“.

Ukrainian media report that almost 20,000 residents are still without electricity in the Kherson region.
