During the European Championships in Germany, the national team Polish was the first team to say goodbye to the tournament. Romania beat Ukraine 3-0 with goals from Nicolae Stanciu, Razvan Marin and Denis Dragus. The match was commented for TVP Sport by Mateusz Święcicki, who was loaned from Eleven Sports for Euro 2024. The Polish journalist reported the on-pitch actions of the Ukrainians in rather unfavorable terms. And no wonder, since they received further blows from the theoretically much weaker Romania.
In one of the last programs, Święcicki revealed that it was Ukrainian fans I really didn't like the way he commented on that meeting. It didn't end with just turning up your nose. The journalist has been… officially accused!

Mateusz Święcicki then continued to explain that he was simply reporting what he saw on the pitch.
– I remind you that Ukraine lost that match after conceding three goals. She was just a shadow for her rivals. It was an absolutely one-sided match. And I was shocked then. I understand that you can write a post on the Internet, but to write an official complaint to the National Broadcasting Council against a guilty editor? – he added.
– If the Romanians knew about it, we would immediately have support from the other side. But they weren't really interested in a commentator from Poland. But this fact happened, I admit, he said jokingly at the end. Interestingly, the Romanians advanced from such a strong first-place group. They ended their Euro 2024 adventure with a 0-3 defeat against the Netherlands in the 1/8 finals.
