Mortality among civilians has increased in occupied Mariupol: rates are three times higher than during the COVID-19 epidemic – reported the Ukrainian portal ZN based on the analysis of the Center for National Resistance.
Mortality among the inhabitants of occupied Mariupol from natural causes is now 2.6 times higher than during the coronavirus pandemic. That’s about 400 people a week. Such statistics are presented by the Center for National Resistance.
The reason is that the city’s health care system has been adapted to the needs of the Russian army. The invaders hired medical personnel to care for their wounded soldiers, the Center said.
The situation is complicated by the fact, the Center adds, that people who have not accepted a Russian passport are denied medical care. The occupiers prohibit medical workers from treating such people.
The ZN portal recalls that in Mariupol, Russian troops began to check children for their cooperation with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Petro Andryushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, loyal to Kiev, says that the occupiers have “reached the extreme point of paranoia.”
