The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been going on for 504 days. The Ukrainian army occupied almost as much territory in a five-week counteroffensive as Russian troops occupied in more than half a year, the American Institute for War Studies estimates in its latest report on the situation on the front. ISW also estimates that Ukrainian counter-offensive operations in the Bakhmut area may threaten Russian control over it, but it is too early to predict the city’s liberation. Here are the highlights of the last hours.

> Second night in a row Russia launched a wave of drone attacks on Kiev and its region, the anti-aircraft defense of the city and the region is involved in repelling the attack, the military administration of the Ukrainian capital announced.

> The Ukrainian armed forces have weapons manufactured by Russian allies. According to the portal mil.in.ua, the army Ukraine uses weapons from, among others, Iran, China, Serbia or North Korea. It is not known how the Ukrainians came into possession of it – we read in the publication.

> President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky came to Vilnius for the summit of the North Atlantic Alliance. – NATO will give Ukraine security. Ukraine will make NATO stronger, he declared during a concert in support of his country.

> Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba expressed disappointment with the decision of the Vilnius North Atlantic Alliance summit on Ukraine’s membership, which did not include the coveted invitation to Kiev, European Pravda reported.

> France will pass long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine, the French president announced Emmanuel Macron. He did not specify their number. According to the French media, these are SCALP missiles. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskovcommenting on these reports, he declared that this decision “is a mistake”. Meanwhile, the head of the German Defense Ministry announced in Vilnius another armament package for Kiev, including thousands of rounds of ammunition, combat vehicles, tanks and two Patriot launchers.
