“Ukraine is no longer an independent state,” says Viktor Orban in an interview with Western media, who also does not consider Putin a war criminal. Orban emphasizes that Kiev has become completely dependent, especially militarily, on the West, and that is the only reason why it can still fight.

Ukrainians have already got used to the fact that Viktor Orban speaks the language of Vladimir Putin. – It is no big secret that Orban is probably a friend of Putin. Orban himself is financially dependent on the Kremlin and, of course, cannot say anything else, explains Wiktoria Czyrwa, a journalist from the Polish-Ukrainian economic portal EDIALOG.

Orban has a reputation as Putin’s Trojan horse in Europe, and this latest interview will not improve that. He told the German Bild, among other things, that Ukraine was no longer a sovereign state. There’s no money. There are no weapons. He can fight only because he has support from the West. An adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Orban of perpetuating Russian propaganda myths. Mykhailo Podolak wrote on Twitter: it’s time to realize that Ukraine, which has been fiercely defending its freedom, children and their future for 489 days, successfully facing the post-Soviet neo-empire with the intentions of a historical serial killer, which yesterday fiercely threatened half the world with its lawlessness, is absolutely subjective and sovereign in its policies and decisions.

With the latest interview, Viktor Orban confirms the opinion of a man who pursues Putin’s geopolitical goals, including breaking up the European Union from within. – Vladimir Putin’s game for Europe is a game to break our unity. Foreign policy, the European policy of Viktor Orban, Hungary, is such an instrument. This is a country that resists sanctions against Russia, and also resists the agreement and Ukraine’s inclusion in dialogue with NATO. Not since the outbreak of the war, but much earlier, notes Wojciech Przybylski, editor-in-chief of Visegrad Insight, Res Publica Foundation. An interview with Bild shows that in Orban’s eyes Putin is not a war criminal, the failed coup “is a sign of the strength of the Russian dictator” and Ukraine’s victory is impossible. Why? Orban explains that the problem is that the Ukrainians will run out of soldiers earlier than the Russians. This will be the deciding factor in the end.

– I do not recognize the young, liberal anti-communist with whom I used to be friends. It seems to me that our ruling party should explain this political alliance with Orban, Le Pen and Salvini, because what Orban does and says is unacceptable, believes Radosław Sikorski, PO MEP. The aforementioned Frenchwoman Marine Le Pen in 2014 took out a loan of 9 million euros from a Russian bank. Despite his pro-Russian stance, the Hungarian prime minister still meets with the leaders of the Visegrad Group countries. In Bratislava, he met with the leaders of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He found a common language with them again. The group is again united by opposition to EU plans to relocate migrants.
