The body of a British man was recovered from the rubble of a hotel in Kramatorsk that was shelled by Russians on the night from Saturday to Sunday. He was a member of a six-person Reuters team present there. The agency confirmed that the victim was 38-year-old Ryan Evans, who advised journalists on security matters.
“Rescuers found the body of the deceased under the rubble,” Kramatorsk Mayor Oleksandr Honcharenko said. Ukrainian police said the deceased was a 40-year-old British citizen and a foreign media employee.
Reuters identified the deceased as Ryan Evans, a British citizen who had been assigned to a team covering the war in Ukraine. Evans worked for the agency as a security adviser.
“Evans, a former British soldier, had worked with Reuters since 2022 and advised journalists on security around the world, including in Ukraine, Israel and the Paris Olympics. He was 38,” Reuters reported.
On Sunday morning, regional government chief Vadym Filashkin said four members of the Reuters team had been wounded in the Russian attack on a hotel in Kramatorsk. Filashkin said the wounded were from Latvia, Ukraine, the United States and Germany.
