German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has spoken out in favor of more intensive diplomatic efforts to end the war in Ukraine. In his opinion, a peace conference with Russia's participation must be held on this issue.
– I believe it is time to discuss how we can get out of this war situation and achieve peace faster than it currently seems, he said. Olaf Scholz in a Sunday interview for ZDF television.
When asked if there should be another peace conference, the Chancellor replied that “there will definitely be another peace conference.” – And the president (Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky – ed.) and I agree that one of them must also include Russia – added Scholz.
Nord Stream sabotage case “must be explained”
The dpa agency assessed that the head of the German government avoided answering a question about trust in the Ukrainian president after reports that a Ukrainian citizen was involved in sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. “I have good relations with Volodymyr Zelensky. At the same time, it is absolutely clear to me that this matter must be clarified,” Scholz emphasized.

On Friday, President Zelensky met with Chancellor Scholz in Frankfurt am Main. The politicians discussed, among other things, preparations for the second peace summit on Ukraine, said the president of Ukraine, which is seeking approval of its own peace plan by the international community.
As dpa recalled, during the peace conference on Ukraine in June, many countries had already agreed to this plan. Russia is not involved in the negotiations. Kiev's peace plan includes, among other things, the withdrawal of Russian troops from all areas of Ukraine, the payment of reparations by Russia and the holding legally responsible all politicians and military officers responsible for the aggression against Ukraine.
