The head of InPost, Rafał Brzoska, wants to spend up to EUR 100 million to encourage the largest Polish companies to invest in the Ukrainian economy – we read in Friday’s “Rzeczpospolita”. As the newspaper notes, Brzoska sees one condition for the success of such a fund: Poland needs a strong partner. And he counts on cooperation with American business.
In an interview with “Rz”, Brzoska declared that he could allocate EUR 100 million to build a reconstruction fund. Ukraineto show other Polish entrepreneurs that it is worth getting involved.
Brzoska: the entire West should strengthen the free part of Ukraine
As the newspaper notes, Brzoska sees one condition for the success of such a fund: Poland needs a strong partner. And he counts on cooperation with American business. He also announces visits to at least four countries in our region to talk to entrepreneurs who could join this project.
– Americans are also sure that Putin will not stop if he defeats Ukraine – says Brzoska in an interview with the daily. The head of InPost emphasizes that the entire West should strengthen the free part of Ukraine – so that it becomes stronger both economically and militarily.
“The head of InPost claims that we have seven to nine months to find partners, money and solutions. Poland must remind us that we are not only a partner because of the airport in Jasionka or proximity to Ukraine, but we have know-how and experts who participated in in the transformation of the Polish economy. And that we are connected with Ukraine by logistics, roads, railways and energy lines. The fears that German or French companies are already doing their first business in Kiev turned out to be a myth,” we read in the newspaper.
Two key areas
When asked how he would like to use the potential reconstruction fund, Brzoska replied that there were two key areas in which he would personally “be very willing to invest.” He mentioned that it was infrastructure and health care. – These two will be crucial if this free part of Ukraine is to continue to fight, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, to strengthen itself and prepare for accession to the EU, he said.
“Rz” notes that the costs of rebuilding Ukraine far exceed the EUR 100 million paid by Brzoska. He adds that Americans are talking about spending close to a trillion dollars.
– I consider the creation of such a private Polish fund to be a very good idea, which must be strengthened with state funds for the economies of scale and its credibility – says Jacek Piechota, president of the Polish-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, in an interview with the newspaper.
According to Forbes magazine, Brzoska has a fortune worth PLN 2.61 billion and ranks 18th in the “Richest Poles 2023” ranking.
