On Sunday, the mayor of Russian-occupied Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, loyal to the authorities in Kiev, announced that on Saturday night, the Ukrainian forces destroyed the Russian military base in this city, in the Zaporizhia region.

Fedorov, who is quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine agency, reported that the Ukrainian forces “fired more than 30 shots at 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. [godz. 2 w nocy i 4 rano czasu polskiego – przyp. red.]”whose target was the base. He assured that it was not true that the shelling had touched residential areas.

According to the American think tank of the Institute for War Research (ISW), the Ukrainians could attack with the help of HIMARS multi-lead launchers.
