The Russian state-run RIA Novosti news agency reported that on Sunday there was a Ukrainian attack on Sevastopol in Russian-occupied Crimea. According to these reports, five people were killed and 124 were injured. Moscow said the United States was also responsible for the attack.

“As a result of the Ukrainian shelling of Sevastopol, 124 people were injured, including 27 children,” the agency wrote, appointing Alexei Kuznetsov as an adviser to the head of the Russian Ministry of Health.

“The number of people killed after the (Ukrainian Armed Forces) attack on Sevastopol increased to five, including two children and two adults,” RIA Novosti then reported on Telegram.

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that five American ATACMS missiles were used to attack Sevastopol, and four of them were intercepted by air defense. The ministry also stated that American specialists enter ATACMS missile flight data based on their own satellite intelligence data, and therefore the United States is also responsible for the attack on Sevastopol.

The Crimean Peninsula was annexed by Russia in March 2014 as a result of military intervention and an illegal referendum. Ukraine and the West considered these actions by the Kremlin a violation of international law.
