China is starting to provide real military support to Russia in the fight against Ukraine, and this is a cause for concern, said investigative journalist Christo Grozev, co-founder of the Bellingcat website specializing in white intelligence, on Bulgarian TV Nova.

– I think in the next few days we will see evidence (of Chinese aid) from the American side. This is a primary concern in the White House in the face of ongoing war (in Ukraine). It is primarily about the transfer of electronics, chips. China is even ready to hand over the missiles, Grozev said.

In the opinion of the journalist, there is no way to return to peaceful relations without losing Russia on the battlefield, but also presented an alternative scenario. According to Grozev, there may be a coup in Russia that would lead to the end of the war. Dissatisfaction with the authorities could be compounded by the fact that “the real impact of the sanctions on the average, relatively poor Russian will be felt in the middle of this year.”

Grozev said that according to information he had received from sources close to the Kremlin, Russia was trying to work out a different, symbolic victory than winning on the battlefield. Such a “symbol” was supposed to be the bombing of civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, which in turn was supposed to lead to a huge influx of refugees from Ukraine to Europe. In the aftermath of these events – according to the Kremlin’s plans, described by Grozev – European Union would get tired of helping Ukraine and put pressure on President Volodymyr Zelensky to end the conflict.

US about China’s possible military support to Russia

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in an interview with the American station CBS News that China considers handing over arms to Russiathat can be used against Ukraine. He warned that such a move by Beijing would have “serious consequences”.

When asked what specifically China could give Russia, Blinken replied that “first of all, weapons.” “There are a number of things that fit into this category, from the ammo to the gun itself,” he added. He also stressed that the US is concerned about the possibility of China helping Russia circumvent sanctions.

About Blinken’s words Sławomir Dębski spoke on Monday in “One na One” on TVN24, director of the Polish Institute of International Affairs. – So far, China has not done this, but apparently the Americans have some indications that they are at least considering such a possibility. Undoubtedly, this is a political message warning China against getting involved on the Russian side and giving it support, he said.

Beijing denies reports of support from Russia

As noted by Reuters, Beijing, which entered into a “borderless partnership” with Moscow last year, refrained from condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. United States warned of the consequences if China provided military support to Russia.

Beijing has assured that it does not support Russia militarily. China also denied reports that Moscow demanded military equipment from Beijing. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told the Munich Security Conference on Saturday that China “neither stood by nor added fuel to the fire” over the war in Ukraine.

“I suggest that everyone start thinking calmly – especially friends in Europe – about what efforts we can make to stop this war,” Wang argued. He added that “there are some forces that clearly do not want the negotiations to succeed or the war to end quickly.”
