Ukraine – Russia. Media: attack on a metallurgical factory in Russia in Lipetsk

Interfax-Ukraine, citing a government source, reported that Ukrainian forces carried out an attack on one of the largest metallurgical plants in Russia. The plant is located in Lipetsk, approximately 300 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. There was to be a fire and the evacuation of employees. “The raw material from this enterprise is used to produce Russian missiles, artillery, drones,” the Ukrainian news agency reported.

The attack was to be carried out by the Security Service Ukraine (SBU) together with the Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR), the Interfax-Ukraine agency reported. Lipetsk is located in western Russia, about 300 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

“It is one of the largest metallurgical plants in Russia, producing for the Russian defense industry and fulfilling many state orders. The raw material from this enterprise is used to produce Russian missiles, artillery, drones, etc.” – the agency reported.

The owner of the plant is Vladimir Lisin, a Russian oligarch associated with… Vladimir Putin. According to Forbes magazine’s estimates, Lisin is one of the three richest people in Russia.

Ukrainian services talk about a large fire and evacuation

According to the Ukrainian secret services, a large fire broke out in the plant, after which the employees were evacuated. The Ukrainian drones were supposed to hit installations used to cool unpurified coke gas, which may suspend the production process for a long time.

The UNIAN agency reported that the inhabitants of Lipetsk reported the sounds of explosions on the night from Friday to Saturday. According to them, smoke could be seen in the vicinity of the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant.

The governor of the Lipetsk region, Igor Artamonov, reported at night that the fire broke out in only one workshop, was quickly extinguished and no one was hurt.
