– Russia must be forced to make peace if Putin is so keen to fight, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said. Referring to the Ukrainian offensive in Russia's Kursk region, he said the war was returning to Russia after Moscow had moved it to other countries.
The Ukrainian leader said in his evening speech that Kiev's major cross-border attack on the western Kursk region was a security issue Ukraine and that Kyiv took over the areas from which Russia carried out attacks. – Russia must be forced to make peace if Putin wants to fight so much – Zelensky stressed.

He said that the Sumy region in northern Ukraine, which lies across the border from Kursk, has been attacked by Russians almost 2,100 times since June 1. “Russia brought war to others, now it is coming home. Ukraine has always wanted only peace, and we will certainly ensure peace,” he added.

On August 6, Ukrainian army forces invaded the Kursk Oblast in Russia and are still fighting there today.
On Monday, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrsky, at a meeting with President Zelensky, said that the Ukrainian armed forces control about 1,000 square kilometers of Russian territory. “We are continuing our offensive operation in the Kursk region. Military groups are carrying out the tasks assigned to them. Battles are ongoing along the entire front. The situation is under our control,” Syrsky noted.
