The deputy defense minister of the Russian Federation, Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, has probably been dismissed, the British Ministry of Defense informed. The ministry cites reports from social media channels associated with the Russian military. Mizintsev is called “the butcher of Mariupol”. His release has not yet been officially confirmed by the Kremlin.

In a daily intelligence update, the UK Ministry of Defense said that on April 27, social media channels associated with the Russian military reported that the deputy defense minister, Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev, who was in charge of military logistics and had been in the post for only eight months, had been dismissed.

Mizintsev’s release has not been confirmed, but speculation about his future underscores that logistical issues remain at the heart of the struggle Russia in Ukraine – added.

Mizintsev is called “the butcher of Mariupol” due to his participation in the siege of the city, which was defending itself from the Russian encirclement. Mizintsev, who infamously signed up during the Civil War in Syria, during the siege of Aleppo defended by Syrian rebel forces, it was alleged that he was behind the massive bombing of besieged Mariupol. He is credited – as commander – with the shelling of the maternity hospital and the city theater, which was a shelter for civilians.

The Russians are out of ammunition

The British ministry also said that “Russia does not have enough ammunition to succeed in the offensive.”

According to London, the ammunition shortage is fueling internal divisions, primarily between the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Wagner Group.

“Russia continues to prioritize the mobilization of its defense industry, but it is unable to meet the demands of wartime. While Russia’s political leadership stubbornly insists on success on the battlefield, Russian logistics are stuck,” the report said.
