The new head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Rustem Umerov, listed his priority tasks during the presentation ceremony to the ministry’s employees. He announced, among other things, “zero tolerance for corruption” and the expansion of the international coalition around Ukraine. As he said, Kiev should “create new, perhaps even unexpected partnerships.”

– The entire activity of our ministry should focus on strengthening our servicemen, supplying them with everything necessary – weapons, military equipment, equipment, means of individual defense, food, protection of soldiers’ rights, high-quality medical care, constant training and improvement of qualifications – he said Rustem Umierov.

Talking about broadening the coalition around UkraineUmerov emphasized that Kiev should “establish new, perhaps even unexpected partnerships, expand the geography of allies, create new regional and thematic alliances.”

He also pointed out the importance of developing Ukrainian production, because the broader it is, the more Ukraine will be independent from external factors.

The President of Ukraine introduced the new minister to the ministry’s employees Volodymyr Zelensky he emphasized that “more trust is needed” in the decisions made, in planned and implemented deliveries, and in communication between subunits and their necessary connections with the Ukrainian defense system.

Resignation of Oleksiy Reznikov

Umerov replaced Oleksiy Reznikov, who He was dismissed by Parliament at his own request on Tuesday. As reported by the media, the actual reasons for Reznikov’s dismissal were numerous irregularities related to purchases for the armed forces and a corruption scandal regarding the issuance of false deferrals from military service.
