Switzerland agreed to host an international peace summit on Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelensky made such a request. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with the president on Monday in Bern Switzerland Wiola Amherd.

After the talks, he told journalists, among other things, about the peace conference to end Russian aggression. – We are open to the presence at the peace conference of all countries that respect our sovereignty and territorial integrity – he explained.

– We would like the global South to be present. It is important for us to show that the whole world is against aggression Russia and the whole world stands for a just peace, he added.

Zelensky will also assess that China – one of Russia’s key allies – has played a “big role” in the world and would like Beijing to take part in the conference. – We would very much like China to get involved in our formula (peace – editor’s note) and also in the summit – he admitted. – But not everything depends on our wishes – he added.

Switzerland will be an economic peace conference

Amherd, however, stated that Switzerland would organize such a conference and its planning would start on Tuesday.

“At the request of the President of Ukraine, Switzerland agreed to organize a summit on the peace formula,” the Swiss government later announced. “Further details are currently being developed,” it said.

President Amherd also said during her speech that her country intends to allocate 1.5 billion Swiss francs (1.6 billion euros) for the reconstruction of Ukraine in 2025-2028 as part of the international cooperation strategy.

Zelensky first announced his 2022 peace formula at the November G20 summit, a group bringing together the world’s largest economies. This 10-point Ukrainian peace formula assumes, among others: punishing those responsible for war crimes, withdrawing all Russian troops from Ukrainian territory, restoring the country’s territorial integrity, and releasing all prisoners of war and deportees. The plan also includes the proposal to prevent the destruction of the natural environment, as well as energy, food and nuclear security.
