Belarus is taking military equipment from the storage depots, which it can then hand over to Russia to strengthen its groups in Ukraine, said the deputy head of the main operational management of the general staff of the Ukrainian armed forces. He also informed that military infrastructure was being built on the territory of the former Ziabrauk airport in the Homiel region.
Deputy head of the main operational management of the general staff of the armed forces Ukraine General Oleksiy Hromov said that on Belarus “Under the pretext of exercises, collections, the equipment is removed from storage and serviced in the warehouses of arms and military equipment.”
– Considering the enormous equipment losses of the aggressor, as well as the much better storage conditions for the equipment in the Belarusian army, it is possible that Belarus will hand over these weapons to the Russian aggressor – said Hromov, quoted by the Ukrainian Pravda portal. The equipment can then be shifted to Donbas or the Kherson region, he assessed.
The military officer also informed that Ukraine has information that a military infrastructure is being built on the territory of the former Ziabrauk airport in the Gomel region (near the border with the Ukrainian Chernihiv region).
– It cannot be ruled out that Belarus will make it available later as part of the so-called federal state Russia this territory in order to deploy another military base there near our border – said Hromov.
The risk of Russian attacks from the territory of Belarus
The general also indicated that the threat of Russian missile attacks from the territory and airspace of Belarus continued, as well as the transfer of Russian sabotage groups there to operate on the routes of logistical support for Ukrainian troops.
According to Hromov, there are special units of Russian troops and private military companies on the territory of Belarus, which can be used to prepare subversive groups. Assessing the risk of a large-scale attack from Belarus, the military said that currently Russia does not have the necessary forces there.
