EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, who is in Kiev, announced on Monday morning that he “started the day in a shelter.” An alarm was sounded in the Ukrainian capital after the Air Force warned about the takeoff of Russian military planes.
“I start the day in Kiev in a shelter when Russia launched another missile attack. This is the everyday life of Ukrainians since Russia started a full-scale invasion,” he said in a post on the X platform Josep Borrell.
The Ukrainian Air Force announced on Monday morning the takeoff of Russian military aircraft carrying missiles. Explosions were heard in Kiev and there was no electricity in parts of the city.
Josep Borrell arrived in Kiev on Saturday. At a press conference with Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha, he assured European Union supports Ukraine. He also called for increasing and accelerating the deliveries of military aid to the Ukrainian army.
The head of EU diplomacy recalled in Kiev that this was his fifth visit to Ukraine since the start of Russia full-scale armed invasion and last as EU foreign policy chief, following his announced departure from office. Borrell emphasized that supporting Ukraine was his personal priority from the first day of the war.
