The Russian invasion of Ukraine is on its 319th day. Despite the announced ceasefire, on Saturday and in the night from Saturday to Sunday, the Russians attacked Ukrainian cities. Here is a summary of the most important events from Ukraine.

> The words of the Russian leaders about the Christmas ceasefire turned out to be a lie, the Ukrainian president said on Saturday Volodymyr Zelensky. “They said something about an alleged ceasefire… But the reality is that Russian missiles were hitting Bakhmut and other Ukrainian positions again,” he said.

> Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree on Saturday introducing sanctions, including against famous Russian artists. Among those subject to restrictions are the conqueror Oscardirector Nikita Mikhalkov and the world-famous soprano Anna Netrebko.

> The Russian armed forces carried out seven rocket attacks on Kramatorsk and two on Konstantynivka overnight from Saturday to Sunday, Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk region authorities, said on Facebook. In Kramatorsk, the buildings of an educational institution, an industrial plant and a garage cooperative were destroyed. The industrial zone in Konstantynówka was shelled. There were no casualties.

> In the fighting near Bakhmut, in the Donetsk region, the Luhansk branch of the State Border Service Ukraine liquidated at least 18 mercenaries from the Wagner Group on Saturday, Ukrainska Pravda reported.​​​​

> Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the Wagner group that fights for Bakhmut, explained on Saturday why the city is such an important target. “The icing on the cake is the Soledar and Bakhmut mine system, which is actually a network of underground cities,” he said.

> An echelon with Russian military personnel, numbering about 700-800 people, was redeployed in the night from Saturday to Sunday to Belarus – reported the independent Belarusian Hajun channel, quoted by the Ukrainian Pravda portal.
