Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has been ongoing for 647 days. US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that “if Congress does not pass a package of measures to assist Ukraine by the end of the year, it will be extremely difficult to continue supporting Kiev at the level required.” These are the most important events in the last hours of the war in Ukraine.

> Russia again attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones, releasing 25 such machines on the night from Thursday to Friday. 18 of them were shot down. The Russians also used guided missiles, the Ukrainian Air Force announced on Friday morning.

> Ukraine is not prepared to join the European Union; instead of immediate accession, it would be necessary to first conclude a strategic partnership agreement with Kiev for a period of 5-10 years, the Hungarian Prime Minister said in a radio interview on Friday Viktor Orbán.

> Former president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the head of the opposition European Solidarity party stated that the border services did not allow him to travel abroad. The politician announced that the ban is illegal and that the office of his opponent, incumbent president Volodymyr Zelensky, is behind it.

> President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with the Associated Press that with the arrival of winter, the war with Russia is entering a new stage. He admitted that although the Ukrainian army did not achieve the results he would like, capitulation was out of the question. – We are fighting for what belongs to us – he emphasized.

> As part of the sanctions, Switzerland has frozen assets belonging to Russians worth almost USD 8.8 billion, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on Friday on the X platform (formerly Twitter). Together with our partners, we are striving to create a mechanism enabling the use of seized assets for the reconstruction of Ukraine, declared the head of the Ukrainian government.

> If Congress does not pass a package of funds to aid Ukraine by the end of the year, further support for Kiev at the required level will be extremely difficult, said John Kirby, spokesman for the US National Security Council on Friday.

Kirby once again renewed his call for Congress to act on approving the funds needed to continue helping Ukraine during an online briefing Friday. As he noted, this is necessary by the end of this calendar year, because “after this date, providing assistance at the level that Ukrainians need will be extremely difficult.”

> We support the establishment of an international coalition to recover our children abducted to Russia as a result of the Kremlin’s aggression. The proposal to create such a body was submitted by the Canadian authorities at the end of October, she announced on Friday Olena Zelenskayawife of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
