On Friday, the Sejm adopted a resolution on Ukraine’s membership in NATO. 443 deputies from all parties, except for the Confederation, voted for it. “Taking into account the dedication of the Ukrainian nation and its sovereign right to choose its own path of development, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland fully supports Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations,” reads the resolution.

443 deputies voted for the resolution and seven deputies of the Confederation abstained from voting. Two deputies – Jacek Świat (Law and Justice) and Grzegorz Braun (Confederation).

Earlier on Friday, support for the adopted resolution was expressed by all parliamentary clubs, believing that it would strengthen the Alliance and it was in Poland’s interest. The circle of the Confederation was against it, judging that such an attitude could draw Poland into a world conflict.

The resolution emphasized that Ukraine today it defends not only its statehood, but also common values ​​such as democracy and order based on international law. “Taking into account the dedication of the Ukrainian people and their sovereign right to choose their own path of development, Sejm of the Republic of Poland fully supports Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. Its troops are becoming more and more interoperable with the forces FOR THIS and gain experience on the battlefield. From the military point of view, Ukraine’s accession to NATO will also be beneficial for the Alliance.

It also pointed out that the decision to join NATO rests with the interested state and the member states of the Alliance.

“The upcoming summit in Vilnius is crucial for NATO-Ukraine relations and should be a place of debate about its future. The procedure of inviting Finland and Sweden to the Alliance can also be applied to Ukraine. The Sejm of the Republic of Poland will support efforts to strengthen political and practical cooperation between the Alliance and Ukraine and building a consensus for Ukraine’s accession to NATO.
