On Monday, parts of Ukraine experienced difficult weather conditions. Firefighters from the Lviv area saved four people – including a three-year-old child – from a vehicle swept away by the river current. Winter has also returned to the country with snowfall, black ice and gusty winds.
On Monday, the fire brigade of the Lviv region rescued three women and a three-year-old child from the rushing river Yablonka. The group was driving a car near the village of Stary Sambor when the water level in the river suddenly rose. The vehicle was trapped by the fast current.
Firefighters were sent to the spot immediately. The rescue operation ended happily – firefighters freed everyone from the car and moved them to the shore.
It has cooled down
In the last days of March, dynamic winter weather also reached our eastern neighbors. The temperature dropped significantly and there was also snowfall. A layer of ice has formed on many roads, making communication difficult. The strong wind also knocked down trees.
On Wednesday, police urged all drivers to be careful on the roads and remember about the right distance between cars.
Winter weather is expected to last at least until the end of the week.
