The search and rescue operation after Russia’s missile attack on Friday has ended, Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said. “As a result of the impact on a multi-storey apartment block, 23 people died: 22 were rescued from the rubble and one died in hospital. Among the victims are three boys (1.5 years, 16 and 17 years) and three girls (8, 11 and 14 years) ” – said the minister. 17 people were saved, he added.
On Friday Russian rockets fell, among others, on Uman in the middle Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, a Kh-101 cruise missile hit a block of flats there. City residents reported hearing an explosion and the sound of a skyscraper collapsing. – That night was like the first day of the war for us. Then we also heard the sounds of explosions, but then we did not understand what had happened. That night, a few minutes before the explosions, we heard the sound of planes and we understood that something was about to begin, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko told journalists of the Ukrainian television Mykola.
The services started the rescue operation. According to Klymenko, the operations ended only that day in the afternoon.
23 people died, including six children

He added that 17 people were rescued during the operation. Nine were injured and are in hospitals. In addition, two people were reported missing.
– I express my condolences to the relatives of those killed. This evil will be punished. We will not let it spread. We will endure it and we will win,” Klymenko said.
Zelensky expresses his condolences and promises to hold him accountable
President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the tragedy in a daily address he published on Saturday evening. – The impact on Uman took the lives of six children. In total, 23 people died, he stressed, expressing his condolences to his family and loved ones.
He assured that every Russian who prepares and carries out missile attacks and who operates planes and ships from which missiles are launched towards Ukraine will be punished. “Not only those who give the orders, but all you terrorists and killers should be punished,” he said.
“We are preparing several powerful steps to further consolidate our partners and give more energy to create a tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression to accelerate the defeat of the terrorist state,” he added.
