Ukraine has received nearly 3 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine under the COVAX program, informed the Ministry of Health in Kiev. Over 17,000 new infections were recorded in the country in the last 24 hours.
The Ministry announced that the Moderna preparation was supplied by UNICEF. Kiev received 2,930,300 doses of coronavirus vaccine as part of the COVAX humanitarian initiative.
– So far, eleven million Ukrainians have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Today, vaccination is, first and foremost, everyone’s responsibility to themselves and others. The state has done everything to ensure that Ukrainians have the opportunity to get vaccinated and even choose vaccines – said the Minister of Health Wiktor Laszko on Sunday.
Moderna is the fourth COVID-19 vaccine available in Ukraine. I would like to thank the international partners for their systematic support and common desire to overcome the pandemic – added Laszko.
In total, under COVAX, UNICEF supplied Ukraine with 7,415,810 doses of vaccines from manufacturers such as Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Sinovac.
Over 17,000 new infections
In the last 24 hours, 17,419 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Ukraine. 449 people have died due to COVID-19.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,075,433 infections have been confirmed in Ukraine, and the number of deaths has reached 72,084.
