Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed five Ukrainian ambassadors, including Andriy Melnyk, the ambassador to Germany, according to the decrees of the Ukrainian president published on Saturday. In addition to the diplomat from the mission in Berlin, ambassadors in Hungary, Norway, the Czech Republic and India were also dismissed.

On Monday, the website of the German daily “Bild” wrote, citing several sources in Kiev, that the ambassador in Germany Andrij Melnyk may leave Germany by autumn and return to Ukraine.

The newspaper claimed that there are plans in Kiev for Melnyk to leave his post as ambassador in Berlin and move to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. He would become deputy minister of foreign affairs.

Melnyk, 46, has been the Ukrainian ambassador to West Germany for eight years. As the newspaper recalled, the diplomat has recently been criticized for in which the leader of Ukrainian nationalists Stepan Bandera defended.
