The President of Ukraine announces the construction of a new type of army. Volodymyr Zelensky emphasizes that drones are not the weapon of the future, and their use should bring concrete results now.
– I have just signed a decree that begins the creation of a separate type of troops in our Defense Forces: the Unmanned Systems Forces. And this is not a matter of the future – this is something that should bring very specific results in the near future – he said in his daily summary of his activities.
Zelensky said that this year should be decisive on the fronts of the war with Russia. – Drones, unmanned aerial systems, have proven effectiveness in battles on land, sky and sea. Ukraine has really changed the security situation in the Black Sea thanks to drones. Countering land attacks is largely the work of drones. The destruction of the occupiers and their equipment on a large scale is also the work of drones, he explained.
The President presented a list of tasks related to establishing the Unmanned Systems Forces. He mentioned, among others: creating special staff to work with drones, effective training, systematization of experience, increasing production and attracting the best ideas and the best specialists in this field.
In the near future, the establishment of the Unmanned Systems Forces will be discussed at a meeting of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, Zelensky said.
