US President Joe Biden has said he does not support easing barriers to Ukraine’s accession to NATO, CNN reported on Saturday. Biden explained that Kiev “must meet the same standards as other members.”
Joe Biden met with reporters Saturday before traveling to Philadelphia for the first official meeting of the presidential campaign. At a press conference, he was asked if he would ease the barriers to joining Ukraine to NATO. “No,” he replied firmly. – (Ukrainians – ed.) must meet the same standards as other members. So I’m not going to make it easy,’ he said.
“I think they did everything they could to demonstrate military coordination, but there are many other issues,” the US president said. – Is their system secure? Isn’t he corrupt? Does it meet all the standards that other countries apply to FOR THIS? I think so. But it’s not automatic,” Biden said.
Summit in NATO and admission of Ukraine to the alliance
In July, a NATO summit will be held in Vilnius, where one of the key topics will be the admission of Ukraine to the alliance. It is known that this cannot happen when Ukraine is at war. CNN reminded that all interested parties know about it. The understanding was announced by the president at the beginning of the week Volodymyr Zelensky.
