Zełenski: Memorandum could be discussed by Putin and Trump

The Ukrainian president pointed out that Russia and Ukraine can sign a memorandum, after which an agreement will take place, ending the war on a full scale. It is expected that the memorandum will contain permission to suspend weapons.

According to Zelanski, it is likely that the appropriate memorandum was discussed by Putin and Trump. “In double -sided format there may be a memorandum, which can then lead to a road map leading to the end of the war. I mean to an agreement. We are talking about a memorandum that will be supported by both countries, which also includes a suspension of weapons” – he emphasized.

“Nobody will withdraw our troops from our territories, it is a constitutional duty – mine and our military. No ultimatum, no one will give their lands, their people, their homes. I don't know what the Memorandum principles are, but if Russia puts the conditions for withdrawing our troops from our land, it means that they do not want the end of the war. Because they clearly understand that Ukraine will not do it,” Zelnski said.

According to Zelanski, Trump believes that Russia is ready for compromise, and the most important thing for him is to start direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. “For all of us, it is very important that the United States does not distance themselves from negotiations and peace, because the only one who is interested is Putin,” he added.

“As for the American packet of sanctions, this is a different story. We must all intensively cooperate with the United States to make sure that at some point they will impose appropriate sanctions. It will help a lot, banking and energy sanctions. It depends largely on America whether Putin and the Russian army will continue to earn in this war, or will be in the face of serious economic challenges” Zelanski.

The president noted that he would like to see the ceasefire as the first step so that the Russians could demonstrate their true will to end this war.

Earlier, Trump said that his Monday conversation with Putin went very well, and in her thought Russia and Ukraine would immediately begin negotiations on the suspension of weapons. He noted, however, that the conditions would be negotiated between two sides.
