More than 300 apartments in 14 buildings were destroyed or damaged in the Russian shelling of Zaporizhia on Wednesday. Anatoly Kurtiev, secretary of the city council, said that the search and rescue operation had been completed, after which it was confirmed that one person had died, six had been rescued from the rubble and 25 had been injured.

The death toll of Wednesday’s shelling of Zaporozhye may increase, because – as it was reported a few hours earlier – the health condition of three wounded civilians is assessed as severe, and 19 as moderately severe.

A total of 34 apartments were destroyed or damaged in the apartment block directly hit by the Russian missile, as well as in the neighboring building. In the remaining apartments, located in 12 other buildings, mainly damage to windows and balconies caused by the blast wave was found, the secretary of the city council, Anatoly Kurtiev, informed.

The local government official added that five people who had lost a roof over their heads and asked for help in finding a new apartment have already been placed in a temporary modular town and one of the shelters.
