Russian troops mistakenly bombed a housing estate in occupied Novaya Kachovka, said Natalia Humeniuk, spokeswoman for the Ukrainian forces in the south of the country. She reported that on Friday morning the occupation army tried to drop a guided air bomb on targets in the Ukrainian-controlled part of the Kherson Oblast.
As a result of the Russian attack, several multi-story residential buildings were damaged. – The enemy is now trying to spread rumors that the shelling was allegedly carried out by our troops. However, there is no doubt that it was a mistake of the pilot of the Russian Su-34 bomber. This is not the first time that aggressors make such mistakes, said Natalia Humeniuk in an interview with the Ukrainian broadcaster Suspilne.
This information was confirmed by Volodymyr Kovalenko, the mayor of Novaya Kakhovka, who is loyal to Kiev. “Local residents saw a plane that dropped a bomb on the estate. The damage is serious,” a local government official reported.
Local Telegram channels reported that unconfirmed reports said at least one person was killed and three injured. They also published photos and videos of destroyed buildings.
One of the bombs fell
Ukrainian journalist Oleh Baturin Baturin said on Suspilne TV that four multi-story buildings were damaged as a result of shelling in Novaya Kachovka.
– Residents said they saw three planes flying from the south towards Crimea on Friday morning. One of the witnesses also claims that there were three planes. One of the bombs fell on Novaya Kakhovka, Baturin said.
The Russian occupation authorities reported that 12 civilians were injured.
