Ukrainian-Russian conversations in Istanbul. What was established?

In Istanbul, the second round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia was held, in which Türkiye mediates. The parties agreed, among others, the exchange of prisoners. The Russian delegation gave the Memorandum to Ukrainians. She made a request in exchange for suspension of a weapon.

During the talks, the exchange of all seriously ill prisoners of war and the age of 25 years old and the exchange of bodies of soldiers in the 6000 to 6000 formula was agreed.

The parties also exchanged memorands regarding a peace agreement. The head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrij Jermak also announced that the Ukrainian side gave the Russian list with the names of Ukrainian children who were abducted to Russiaand Kyiv expects them to return home.

The first round took place on May 16 and then it was decided to exchange prisoners of war in the 1000 formula for 1000 people, which was implemented at the end of May.

What do the Russians demand? “The plan is developed quite in detail”

The Reuters agency said that the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the four circuits of Ukraine, partly occupied by Russia – Donetski, Lugansk, Zaporoski and Kherson – is one of the conditions of the Kremlin suspension of weapons in Ukraine. The exit of Ukrainian units from these territories would take place within 30 days of the truce.

– We donated our Memorandum to the Ukrainian side, which consists of two parts. First: how to achieve a real, long -lasting room. And the second part: what steps to take to get a full suspension of weapons. The second part assumes variability and possibilities of adopting another solution – said in Istanbul the chairman of the Russian delegation Vladimir Miedinski, one of the advisers Vladimir Putin.

– The plan is quite detailed on our part. That is why the Ukrainian side decided to study it. They will analyze him and answer. We'll see – added Miedinski.

At the Memorandum, Russia also demands the neutrality of Ukraine and the ban on any military activity of third countries on its territory. There is also talk of the abolition of all economic sanctions imposed on Russia and all means limiting between Russia and Ukraine, the renewal of economic relations between the two countries, including the restoration of gas transit by Ukrainian territory.

Russia also demands the end of mobilization and the start of demobilization in Ukraine, limiting the number of Ukrainian troops and weapons, and confirmation of the status of Ukraine as a state without nuclear weapons, with a clear ban on placing such weapons in its territory.

The Russian memorandum also demands the election of the president and the Supreme Council in Ukraine, and then signing the peace treaty. Moscow also expects to suspend Western military assistance, including the provision of satellite communication services and the delivery of intelligence.

Zelanski about the arrangements in Istanbul

After Monday talks in Istanbul, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Żeleński confirmed that the exchange of military prisoners with Russia was negotiated. – There will be 1000 out of 1000. There may still be an additional 200 out of 200. Because Ukraine raised the issue of additional soldiers, political prisoners and journalists – said the head of the state, quoted by the Interfax -Ukraina agency.

He informed that this week Ukraine and Russia would exchange lists of people to exchange, which will then be verified. He expressed the hope that Moscow would pass on these letters on time.

The president confirmed that Ukraine also agreed to transfer six thousand bodies of killed soldiers to Russia, but he emphasized that their case requires a separate examination, because only 15 percent were identified from this number. – All of ours must be taken, but we already had such an event when they (Russians) gave us the bodies and among them were their own soldiers. They first did not take people from the battlefield, then left them or pretended to collect them – he explained.

Zelanski announced that the Ukrainian delegation in Istanbul gave the Russian side a list of almost 400 abducted children, and Russia offered that it could work a maximum of ten children to return. – Then, when it comes to children, we gave a list of almost 400 children. Zełenski: For the Russians, a weapon suspension is just a matter of a short break

Zelanski also said that the Russians are not ready for a complete suspension of weapons.

– They said about the suspension of the weapons, they are ready for it for 2-3 days to take those killed from the battlefield. I think they are idiots, because, as a rule, suspension of weapons is aimed at avoiding killing. So you can see in what mood they are. This means that for them it is only a matter of a short break in the war – he emphasized.

Zelanski said again that it is necessary to intensify sanctions against Russia. “They don't understand another language,” he added.
