According to the president, it is necessary improving the effectiveness of the system United Nations. He said that in order to restore faith in multilateralism and maintain peace and security, it is necessary to strengthen international law.

– Despite many reservations about the United Nations system, there is no better alternative for multilateralism. Today's global challenges are complex and require collective action, because they cannot be faced alone at the level of individual countries – added Andrzej Duda.

President: Russia tried to introduce its own amendments to the final text of the pact

After the meeting, the president attended a press conference. – The Future Pact was adopted yesterday, unanimously by acclamation, by the member states, despite Russia's attempts to destabilise it – said Andrzej Duda.

As he said, “Russia tried to introduce its own amendments to the final text of the pact in order to improve the language of this pact” – However, this did not work out, thanks to the tough stance of the member states. We, among others, voted against the Russian proposals and eventually Russia capitulated – said Andrzej Duda.

The president assessed that the fact that the pact was adopted by acclamation is very important because the language of the pact, with which Russia is not satisfied, will now become the official binding language of international law.

In Duda's opinion, this means that “the sentences and formulations contained therein will be quoted many times in various documents adopted by the UN and from the point of view of the current situation – especially Russia's attitude and Russian aggression against Ukraine – indicate Russia's violation of international law and thus Russia's failure to perform the obligations resulting from its presence among the United Nations (and included in the pact – ed.)”.
