Józef Panuś has been involved in sports since he was a child. In the second half of the 1980s, he played for football club GKS Tychy. In 1991, he moved to Zagłębie Sosnowiec. In the team that was relegated from the Ekstraklasa, he played a total of 17 matches at the highest level of the game.

From football to television and the Polish record. 61-year-old Józef Panuś is fulfilling his dreams

However, he gained the greatest popularity not thanks to football, but to television. In 2021, Józef Panuś appeared in the program Ninja Warrior Polska. He was remembered not only for the fact that he sang the program's anthem while playing the accordion, but also for his really good performance on the obstacle course. Panuś made it almost to the very end. He was eliminated only at the penultimate obstacle. His performance can be seen in the attached video.

Now Józef Panuś decided to remind himself. The 61-year-old took part in the Myślenice Sports Festival. He set himself the goal of breaking the Polish record in the horizontal bar hang. The previous record was held by Szymon Berentowicz, who in 2022 at the age of nine hung on the bar for 38 minutes and 8 seconds.

Józef Panuś beat this record by over 30 minutes! He lasted as long as 69 minutes and 89 hundredths of a second. – I dedicate the record, among others, to my beloved three granddaughters, for them I wanted to do it and prove that you can have dreams at any age. You have to fight for them, because then life is beautiful and makes sense – said the former footballer.

What's next? Perhaps in the future Józef Panuś will attempt to break the world record. The current one is held by Japanese Kent Adachi, who hung on the bar for 80 minutes and 41 seconds.
