ISTANBUL — Underwater groups are looking out a lake for a helicopter that crashed over the weekend whereas preventing a forest fireplace in western Turkey, state media reported Monday.

4 crew members had been aboard the firefighting plane when it fell into the waters of the Tahtali dam whereas battling a blaze in Izmir’s Menderes district.

One pilot, a nationwide of Kyrgyzstan, swam to security following the accident late Saturday. Three different crew – a Turk and two Kyrgyz personnel – stay unaccounted for.

The search resumed Monday following Sunday’s unsuccessful efforts, state-run Anadolu information company mentioned. The night time vision-equipped helicopter, which was accumulating water to drop on the flames when it crashed, is reported to be caught in mud 12 meters (36 ft) under the floor.

The hearth was extinguished Sunday. Summer season wildfires are widespread in Turkey, the place dry vegetation and excessive temperatures and winds create perfect circumstances for lethal blazes.
