The estimated registered unemployment rate in August was 5 percent, the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy reported on Monday. In July, according to data from the Central Statistical Office, it was at the same level.
According to preliminary data from the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy, at the end of August there were 773.7 thousand registered unemployed people, and the estimated unemployment rate registered amounted to 5 percent.
In July this year, according to Central Statistical Office dataamounted to 5.0 percent, compared to 4.9 percent a month earlier.
Job vacancies
The lowest unemployment was recorded in the Wielkopolska (2.9%) and Silesian (3.6%) voivodeships.
In August, employers reported 78.1 thousand job vacancies and professional activation places to labor offices. “That is 18.8 thousand less than in the previous month,” the ministry noted.
The greatest demand for employees, as in previous months, was recorded by the industry related to production (6.9 percent of submitted offers). Employers are still looking for employees in industry, construction and trade.
In July, Poland had the second lowest unemployment rate in the European Union. It was 2.9 percent, according to the definition adopted by Eurostat. A better situation was recorded only in Czech Republicwhere unemployment is 0.2 percentage points lower.
The average unemployment rate in the entire EU was 6 percent in July. The worst situation on the labor market was Spain with a result of 11.5 percent. It is the only country where unemployment reached double-digit levels.
