The transaction is yet to be finalized. The Leżajsk commune authorities have already mentioned the sale of the brewery
– The next step is to finalize the transaction. It is difficult to say how long it may take. After the transaction is finalized, Mycofeast (MFPL) will take control of the further development of the assets in Leżajsk. The company uses the fermentation process to produce proteins and lipids, among others, for the production of feed – said Magdalena Brzezińska, director of corporate affairs at Grupa Żywiec, in an interview with TVN24 Biznes.
Importantly, the signing of a conditional agreement by Grupa Żywiec regarding the sale of shares in the company controlling the assets of Browar Leżajsk was already announced by the mayor of the commune Krzysztof Sobejko at the beginning of April this year. Sobejko confirmed then that “the finalization of the transaction requires the consent of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection” and that only after it will the details of cooperation with Mycofeast be discussed.
The Leżajsk Brewery began producing beer in 1978.
As we describedalready in February 2023, Grupa Żywiec announced that it planned to end production at the Leżajsk Brewery. It was announced at the time that this would take place in June 2023. The Leżajsk Brewery was built in 1972-1977 in the Leżajsk commune in the Podkarpackie province, and beer production began there on January 2, 1978. Interestingly, the date 1525 found on some of the brewery's products is a reference to the first mentions of beer brewing in that region.
