During the holidays, police detained a 19-year-old man in Ursus in Warsaw. He is suspected of stealing the phone through which he used app-based transport. “As it turned out, he was wanted to serve a sentence of almost half a year of imprisonment,” the Warsaw Police Headquarters reported on Friday.

The 19-year-old stole a phone a few days ago and decided to use it on Christmas Day. Using the installed mobile application of a company providing transport services, he ordered a trip from Lesznowola to Szancera Street in Ursus.

“The owner of the stolen mobile phone notified the police about such an order. At the end of the course, law enforcement officers from the Warsaw III District Police Headquarters were waiting for the suspect,” the KSP said.

After checking the identity of the detainee, it turned out that he was wanted. In the past, the 19-year-old committed threats and misappropriation of property, for which he was sentenced to nearly half a year in prison.

“After spending a night in police custody, he was charged and sent to prison, where he will serve the previously imposed sentence,” KSP reported.

The proceedings in this case are supervised by the Warsaw Ochota District Prosecutor’s Office, noted the KSP.
