Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for president of the United States, wrote on social media that his rival from the Democratic Party Kamala Harris refused to take part in the debate on Fox News on September 4.

Trump stressed on his social media site Truth Social that he was “not surprised” by this development. The former president added that instead of the debate, he will participate in a September 4 event with voters in Pennsylvania broadcast by the conservative Fox News station.

On August 8, ABC News announced that it would host Trump-Harris election debate on September 10. The AP agency recalled that the former president had previously announced that he would not take part in the debate organized by ABC News.

Trump initially announced that he wanted Fox News to sponsor and host the debate, but later began to change his mind.

Dispute over the venue of the debate

In early August, the former president announced that he would either meet for a debate with Harris on September 4 or “not at all.” He also announced that he had agreed with Fox News on that date for the debate with the Democratic candidate.

However, Harris' campaign has pushed for the Sept. 10 showdown to be held on a different network, and the vice president has criticized Trump for trying to backtrack on earlier arrangements to have the debate air on ABC News.
