Professor Katarzyna Pisarska from the Warsaw School of Economics, chairwoman of the Kazimierz Pułaski Foundation Council, spoke on “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 about how the moods of democrats have changed in recent weeks.

– I still remember a month ago, when I was in Washington, the great fear of the Democrats when they were observing the Republican convention, right after the attack on Donald Trumpand they really didn't know how they could organize this planned August convention. Because it seemed in July that Donald Trump was going for a certain victory, he was a person so incredibly perceived as charismatic because he survived this attack on himself, (…), in relation to Joe Biden he seemed incredibly energetic, on a rising wave. And the fact that the Democrats decided to make a very difficult decision, i.e. change the candidate to candidate Harris, actually changed the entire course of the campaign – she said.

According to Professor Pisarska, the first day of the convention in Chicago “is a great success for the Democrats”. – But it is not only the success of organizing this convention, but above all the success of changing the candidate to a female candidate, who aroused among the Democrats, especially young Democrats, what had been missing for many months, if not years, that is, the positive energy that it is possible to win, that the Democrats have a chance to win – she continued.

She added that “many people had already come to terms in June that this campaign was lost.”

Professor Pisarska: Everyone is waiting for the Trump-Harris debate

Professor Pisarska also said that “there is a lot of pressure, pressure from society” for the Trump-Harris debate to take place. – Everyone is waiting for it and if Donald Trump were to withdraw from it, because Vice President Harris is determined to hold it, it would be very disadvantageous for him in polls. It's as if he was afraid of a woman, he wouldn't want to talk to a candidate. He can't afford that – she emphasized.

The interviewee for “Fakty po Faktach” also spoke about the basic programmatic differences between the Republican and Democratic candidates.

She pointed out that the Democratic agenda is very focused on improving the lives of the middle class. She mentioned better access to health care and health insurance. She added that the issue that “very clearly separates Democrats from Republicans is the attitude to abortion”. She said that Trump, indirectly through the Supreme Court justices, managed to introduce a situation in which today (specific – ed.) states decide whether a woman has the right to an abortion or not. – Harris is definitely saying that this should be regulated at the federal level, as it has been so far – she noted.
