In a national NBC News poll, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump received equal support – 48 percent each. This is a change to the detriment of the current US vice-president.
The last public opinion poll was conducted from October 4 to 8. Compared to September survey NBC News points to a change to the detriment of Vice President Harris, who was ahead of the former president 49 to 44 percent last month.
On Sunday, NBC News shows Harris has the largest advantage among black voters (84-11%), 18-to-34-year-olds (57-37%) and college-educated whites (55-41%).
Trump, in turn, leads in rural areas (75-23%) and among whites without a college degree (65-33%).
44 percent independent voters voted for Harris and 40 percent Trump's will.
“As summer turned to fall, any signs of momentum favoring Kamala Harris ceased,” said Democratic pollster Jeff Horwitt, who conducted the poll with Republican Bill McInturff.

US elections – what are they about?
Due to the specificity of the American electoral system, polls do not directly indicate the expected election result. The candidate who gains the greatest public support nationwide does not always win the election.
This is because the presidential elections in USA are indirect, not direct. Americans decide on the choice of president by entrusting their votes to the electors. During the Electoral College, they determine who will sit in the White House. There are 538 electors in the Electoral College, elected from each of the 50 states and the capital District. Colombia. To win the election you need to win the support of 270 of them.
The final result of the presidential election may be determined by votes in the so-called swing states, i.e. states where sometimes the Republican candidate wins the election, and sometimes the Democratic candidate. Hence, Trump and Harris put so much emphasis on campaigns in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan and Wisconsin, which are considered swing states. The first of these states is particularly important here, as it has as many as 19 electoral votes.
Elections in the USA will take place on November 5.
