Allies should be concerned about the prospect of a second presidency for Donald Trump, said Republican Senator Mitt Romney, commenting on Trump securing the nomination in the presidential elections in November. At the same time, he assured that he would support the allies.

Asked if after Tuesday’s victory Donald Trump in the so-called Super Tuesday primary and thus securing the GOP nomination, allies have reason to be concerned about his potential second term, Romney responded in the affirmative. “Allies should always worry about what America will do because we are a democracy and you never really know what will happen,” he said.

“I can only speak for myself and I fully support the Poles and Ukrainians and expect Congress to soon approve funding to defend them against Russian aggression,” said the senator and former Republican presidential candidate.

Romney added that he expects that during next week’s visit of Polish leaders to Washington, they will appeal to the House of Representatives to vote on the package.

Romney: I don’t know how Trump will end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours

The senator said it was not entirely clear what foreign policy Trump would pursue. – There’s not much that’s certain about this, other than he said he’d finish war in Ukraine in 24 hours. I don’t know how he will do it. I don’t know what he wants to do about it Israel and Hamas – that’s probably something we’ll find out later, he said.

Romney maintained his previous declarations that he did not intend to support the candidate of his own party, including: because of his views on foreign policy and the respect he showed Vladimir Putin. “I don’t know how I can express myself more clearly than I have already,” he said.
