A firefighter from Florida, who found a newborn girl in the window of life, decided with his wife to adopt her. The couple had been trying to conceive for a decade, but to no avail. I picked her up and hugged her. We closed our eyes and that was the moment. I’ve loved her ever since,” he said.

The case, although from the beginning of this year, came to light only on Friday, when the “Today” portal described it. I picked her up and hugged her. We closed our eyes and that was the moment. I’ve loved her ever since,” he said. He took the girl to the hospital, where he asked the doctors about the possibility of adoption. “I explained that my wife and I had been trying for a baby for over a decade. I told them we had completed all the steps of the adoption registration process, all we needed was a baby.”

He noted that with Zoey, because that is the girl’s name, he left a handwritten note at the hospital. He admitted that when he first informed his wife of the adoption opportunity, she began to cry. “I told her not to be happy yet. My biggest fear was that the note would be lost and Zoey would disappear. Those few days were very stressful. Ultimately, however, the child went to their home two days later, on January 4, and in April all adoption procedures were completed.

– The way I found her (indicates that – ed.) God helped us – he claims. He also stressed that he was sharing this story in the hope that it would give the girl’s biological mother “some peace of mind”. “We want her to know that her child is cared for and loved above all else,” he said.

The window of life where the girl was placed – the Safe Haven Baby Box – is the only such place in all of Florida. It was created in 2020, but Zoey was the first child to be in it.
