Kamala Harris paid tribute to the late Jimmy Carter by publishing a post on social media dedicated to the former president of the United States. The post is very popular, but what caught the attention of commenters was the photo from Carter's funeral and how it was framed.
State funeral ceremony for Jimmy Carter, president USA from 1977 to 1981, was held at the Washington National Cathedral on Thursday. Outside the immediate family of a politician who died on December 29, 2024 at the age of 100, the funeral was attended by, among others, the president-elect Donald Trumpthe incumbent president Joe Biden with his wife Jill Biden and vice president Kamala Harris with her husband, Doug Emhoff.

Who is not in the photo Harris
After Thursday's ceremony, the Vice-President of the United States published a post on Instagram in which she wrote, among other things, that Jimmy Carter “loved” his country and “left the world better than he found it.” However, what caught the special attention of people watching Kamala Harris's official profile was not the description, but the photo from the funeral. The photo does not show Donald Trump, who stood right next to former President Barack Obama during the ceremony.
This was noted by both Harris and Trump supporters. “Great photos of American leaders who care about their nation. And brilliant photo editing. We can look at them without flinching,” wrote one person. “She has a photo without Trump, and we have a White House without Kamala. Sounds like a win for both sides,” another commenter mocked. “Framing of the century,” said yet another person. Within a few days, almost 16,000 comments appeared under the vice president's entry.

There were presidents at Jimmy Carter's funeral
The absence of Trump in the photo posted by Harris was not the only detail that caught the attention of many online commentators after Carter's funeral. The website of the American “Newsweek” noted on Thursday that during state ceremonies “interactions between former and current presidents are closely monitored, especially between those who have been talking about their political disputes for years.”
Among the hits on the Internet were a recording of Donald Trump talking to Barack Obama and a two-second video showing George W. Bush punching Obama in the stomach while walking past him during the service. The ceremony viewers also noticed the fact that Karen Pence, wife of former Vice President Mike Pence, did not greet the president-elect.
