President Andrzej Duda at the United Nations (UN) food summit in New York said that Poland has been supporting efforts to transform food systems and adapt them to the needs of sustainable development by taking actions in this area for years.
The online speech at the Food Systems Summit organized by the United Nations World Food Program is one of the main points of the third day of the President’s visit to the USA.
The meeting is devoted to sustainable agriculture, food transport and resource security, which, according to the president, is particularly important for Poland as “a significant producer and exporter of high-quality food and agricultural products.”
– We have been undertaking national activities in this area for years. This is reflected in two documents adopted in recent years: the Strategy for Responsible Development and the 2030 Strategy for Sustainable Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries – said President Andrzej Duda.
He noted that both documents “indicate the high-quality food sector as strategic for the Polish economy”, and some of the recommendations are already being implemented, “contributing to a sustainable increase in the income of rural residents, reducing economic and social stratification and improving the condition of the natural environment.”

According to the head of state, Poland is definitely in favor of building a food identification system so that intermediaries, retailers and consumers know how and where food is produced, which “will help promote a healthy lifestyle and proper eating habits, but also contribute to the improvement of safety and security. food quality and will be better at preventing food waste. “

The president also drew attention to the role of education, especially of children and adolescents, in this regard and the correct labeling of products.
