USA, California, warning against “king tides”

California residents are bracing for another onslaught of extreme surf and heavy rain forecast for this weekend. The American coast was hit by waves reaching 12 meters in some places.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a warning of high surf and flooding affecting much of the California coast, from San Diego to the San Francisco Bay Area. Waves are expected to reach up to 12 meters high in some places, Reuters reported on Saturday. She published a recording of residents of the city of Ventura preparing for the arrival of another disaster.

– Water poured over the wall and you probably saw in the recordings that it flowed down the street like a river – said a 63-year-old man. – We are all trying to recover from Friday’s water and prepare as best we can for tomorrow – he added.

Waves that could ‘wash people off beaches’

The threat of coastal flooding has been attributed to fierce Pacific storms that brought heavy rain to much of the west coast on Friday evening, coinciding with the appearance of unusually high tides, known as king tides, Reuters reported.

The National Weather Service warned state residents of “large waves that could cause injuries, wash people off beaches and cliffs, and capsize small boats near shore.”
