The Capitol Police (USCP) said they received a call about a possible armed attacker in one of the buildings of the Senate complex. However, Metropolitan Police spokesman Hugh Carew later said reports of a shooter on Capitol grounds appeared to be a false alarm. “No shooter has been located and no injuries have been reported,” he said.
Initially, police said officers were “searching the area in and around Senate office buildings in response to a 911 (emergency line) call.”
The buildings were evacuated.
Later, however, Metropolitan Police spokesman Hugh Carew said that the information about the armed attacker appeared to be a false alarm. “No shooters have been located and no injuries have been reported,” a Metropolitan Police District spokesman said Colombia.
Capitol Police tweeted that they are “still continuing the investigation” and advised building workers to remain hidden.
