Trump Assassination Attempt: New Information on Assassin
On Wednesday FBI published four photos and new information about the investigation regarding the attempted assassination of former US President.
Kevin Rojek, head of the FBI's Pittsburgh field office, said investigators are analyzing the shooter's online activity. At this point, it appears Crooks was actively searching information regarding both Trumpas well as the US president and the then candidate in the upcoming elections Joe Biden.
“The Man Who Tried to Kill Donald Trump last month, he sought information about both the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention,” NBC News reported.
Investigators also said they found no evidence or clues that could point to involvement of third parties in organizing the attack.
The FBI released photos
The FBI also released four photos. The first one shows the assassin's rifle. “It had a retractable rear stock and an optical sight attached to a rail,” it was reported.
“FBI Director Chris Wray told House lawmakers last month that Crooks' gun had a collapsible stock, which he said might explain why rallygoers didn't see the gunman,” CBS News recalls. The 20-year-old with the rifle was not spotted until he was already on the roof from where he fired the shots.
The next photo also showed weapon and backpack used on the day of the attackThe third one shows two improvised explosive chargeswhich were found in the trunk of a car that belonged to Crooks.
The last photo is air conditioner, which the 20-year-old used to climb onto the roof.
