For me, the most interesting thing is what we didn't hear, said Professor Bohdan Szklarski in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. The Americanist and political scientist commented on the events surrounding Donald Trump's inauguration in the program. As he noted, “we did not hear any harsh anti-China declarations” from Trump.
Americanist, political scientist, Professor Bohdan Szklarski (Center for American Studies, University of Warsaw, Collegium Civitas) spoke in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 about what was most interesting for him in the events of the last 24 hours in the United States, where the oath of office took place. Donald Trump and his signing of a number of decrees.
“For me, what's most interesting is what we didn't hear,” he said. As he emphasized, “we did not hear any harsh anti-Chinese declarations.” – If I were a Chinese scientist, I would say: “hmm, nothing about us, a bit harsh about us, interesting” – said Szklarski.
Trump “sent a signal to the president of China”
The Americanist recalled that Trump made several speeches during Monday's celebrations in which he “spoke to different audiences.”
According to Szklarski, Trump may have “been subdued” in his inaugural speech. – But even where he spoke only to his own people, he did not repeat these blatantly anti-Chinese arguments – he pointed out.
– He sent it to the president China such a signal that: if you don't annoy me, you see, look, I can be gentler. Of course, with Trump, you never know what will happen and how it will happen, but I think it was quite surprising, he said.
