Donald Trump, during a conference in Florida, assessed, among other things, that no one died in the storming of the Capitol, that he gathered more people for his speech than Martin Luther King, that the Democrats allow abortions “even after birth”, and that Kamala Harris wants to “take away” weapons from Americans. The New York Times emphasizes that these statements and a number of others that were made at the conference were a series of lies or lacked evidence. It also notes that Trump sharply attacked his opponent in the election.
Donald Trump at a press conference in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, on Thursday referred to the events of January 6, 2021, when supporters stormed the Capitol after his speech. He said that he attracted a larger crowd than Martin Luther King during his famous speech in Washington in 1963 known as “I Have a Dream,” the New York Times reported on Friday.
The New York daily recalls that, according to an estimate, about 53,000 people took part in Trump's rally that preceded the storming of the Capitol. The civil rights leader's famous speech during the so-called March on Washington attracted 250,000 people.

Trump: No one died in the attack. Media corrects his words
Trump also said that no one died during the storming of the Capitol on January 6. The New York Times corrected that at least seven people died during the riots and later as a result of them.
The former leader of the United States also said that America “is very close to world war”, however – as the Independent commented – he did not provide evidence for such a diagnosis.
The Bulwark website, edited by journalists from the so-called neoconservative faction of Republicans opposed to Trump, commented on the former president's press conference, saying it was called to stay in the spotlight. The media has been focusing on Vice President Kamala Harris' election campaign recently, and Trump believes that he “doesn't get enough attention,” Bulwark wrote. The Independent also wrote that the former president invited handpicked journalists to Mar-a-Lago to “take the spotlight away from Harris” and delivered a “disjointed monologue” to them for more than an hour.
“This man would sooner freestyle solo climb the Empire State Building than hold a disciplined press conference,” Bulwark wrote.
“NYT” on Trump's series of lies
The media drew attention to other statements made by Trump during the conference, in which he was untrue. It was the case – pointed out the Independent – when he said that Kamala Harris “wants to take away your guns.” He argued that the Democratic candidate wants to take away Americans' right to own firearms.
He also said: “the vast majority of the country supports me”; Democrats “allow abortions in the eighth and ninth month (of pregnancy) and even after birth”; “everyone will be forced to buy electric cars” and states “all over the world are emptying prisons” to send criminals to prison. USA.
The NYT emphasizes that each of these statements is a lie or lacks evidence.
Trump has also attacked his rival Kamala Harris several times. He has called her “crazy” and “the least admired, least respected, worst vice president in the history of our country … a radical leftist at a level no one has ever seen.”
